Well behaved families without dysfunction seldom make history.

Buy the Basket, Make the Memories!

In a world filled with societal expectations and norms, it’s easy to feel pressured to conform to certain standards, especially when it comes to family traditions. However, as individuals, we have the power to carve out our own paths and create traditions that bring us joy and fulfillment, regardless of what others may think.

Take Easter baskets, for example. Traditionally associated with children, some might argue that adults have outgrown the excitement of receiving these baskets. But who’s to say that adults can’t indulge in a little Easter fun? I am 44 years old and I still get an Easter Basket! If giving your adult children Easter baskets brings you happiness, then by all means, go for it! After all, family traditions are meant to bring joy and create lasting memories, regardless of age.

Similarly, the notion of having a baby shower and a gender reveal for your third child might raise eyebrows in some circles. Traditionally, these celebrations are reserved for first-time parents. However, every pregnancy is a cause for celebration, and if having these events brings you and your loved ones joy and excitement, then there’s no reason not to go for it. Your happiness and the celebration of new life should take precedence over societal expectations.

And what about fulfilling long-held dreams, no matter your age? Perhaps you’ve always dreamed of having a grand wedding fit for a princess, complete with a lavish gown, a stunning venue, and all the trimmings. Age should never be a barrier to pursuing your dreams, especially when it comes to matters of the heart. If a princess Diana wedding is what your heart desires, then seize the opportunity to make it a reality. After all, love knows no bounds, and neither should your dreams.

The key message here is clear: Don’t let society dictate what brings you happiness. Family traditions should be a reflection of your values, desires, and aspirations, not the expectations of others. Whether it’s Easter baskets, baby showers, or fairytale weddings, embrace the freedom to choose what makes your heart sing.

So go ahead, break free from the constraints of tradition, and create your own family traditions that bring joy, laughter, and love into your life. After all, happiness is meant to be shared and celebrated, no matter how unconventional it may seem to others. Embrace your individuality, follow your heart, and revel in the beauty of creating your own family traditions.
